My dad turned 70 recently and whilst I wanted to make him a lovely birthday cake, I also wanted to make sure that it was traditional and classic (just like my dad). I had some lemons and half a bag of sultanas leftover, so I thought a lemon and sultana cake would be perfect.
Back in January my little sister turned 16 years old (where has the time gone?). To mark the occasion, I decided to attempt some icing modelling and create a MAC inspired make-up cake.
I don't know about you, but there are some days where I find myself searching for something a little different for breakfast.
Having found myself being in possession of six whole oranges that weren't being eaten I decided I would use them to make a cake, rather than throw them away. After a bit of hunting around for Nigella's recipe and looking through a few other recipes which use the whole fruit, I came up with a lovely, moist cake with plenty of chocolate and orange running through it.
